Privacy Policy

We collect the following categories of information:

• Account information — your username, display name, email address, and password (stored as a secure hash).
• Profile content — avatar, tagline, pronouns, mood, and any other information you add to your profile.
• User-generated content — status posts, Reel photos, Wire posts, comments, bulletin board posts, and group content you create on the Service.
• Messages — direct messages and group chat messages sent through the Service.
• Activity data — last-seen timestamps, profile view counts, friendship connections, and interaction records (likes, reposts, etc.).
• Uploaded files — photos uploaded to your gallery, Reel, or profile.
• Support tickets — any correspondence you submit through the ticket system.

We do not currently collect payment information directly. If premium billing is introduced, it will be handled by a third-party payment processor subject to their own privacy policies.

We use the information we collect to:

• Operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
• Authenticate your identity and secure your account.
• Display your profile, content, and activity to other users as intended by the features you use.
• Send you notifications about activity on your account (comments, friend requests, announcements).
• Respond to support requests submitted through the ticket system.
• Enforce our Terms of Use, including investigating and acting on reports of violations.
• Maintain platform safety and integrity.

Content you post on Rolespace — including status updates, Reel photos, Wire posts, comments, and bulletin board entries — is stored on our servers. While this content is displayed only to your friends or intended audience based on your privacy settings, Rolespace staff and administrators can access posted content for the purposes of moderation, safety review, and enforcement of our Terms of Use.

Specifically, our moderation tools allow administrators to review recent public-facing posts (statuses, Reel photos, Wire posts) when investigating reported content or enforcing platform rules. This access is limited to what is necessary for moderation and is not used for advertising or sold to third parties.

Direct messages (DMs) and private group chats carry a higher expectation of confidentiality. Rolespace does not surface DM content in administrative moderation tools. DM content may only be accessed by staff in exceptional circumstances — such as a valid legal request, an imminent safety threat, or investigation of a serious Terms of Use violation — and only to the minimum extent necessary.

By using Rolespace, you acknowledge that platform staff may access your non-private content as described above for the purpose of keeping the Service safe and rule-compliant.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:

• With your consent — when you explicitly authorize sharing.
• Service providers — infrastructure and hosting providers necessary to operate the Service, bound by confidentiality obligations.
• Legal compliance — when required by law, court order, or government authority, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Rolespace, its users, or the public.

We retain your account data and content for as long as your account is active. If you delete a post, it is removed from the Service and is no longer accessible to other users or through administrative moderation tools. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within a reasonable timeframe, except where retention is required by law.

Rolespace uses cookies and browser local storage to maintain your session, remember your preferences (theme, accent color, layout settings), and keep you logged in. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising cookies.

Rolespace is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under these ages. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate information.
• Request deletion of your account and associated data.
• Object to or restrict certain uses of your data.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify users via an in-site announcement. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
